STAMFORD, Conn. – June 7, 2022 – Historic 80-1 longshot Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike headlines the field for the 154th Belmont Stakes this Saturday, June 11, at 5 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock and Universo. Coverage from Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. begins Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on CNBC and Peacock. Telemundo Deportes, which will be presenting its second Triple Crown race of the year following last month’s Preakness Stakes, will begin live coverage Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo.
Rich Strike headlines the field in his first race since becoming the second-biggest longshot to win the “Run for the Roses.” A pair of Todd Pletcher-trained horses — Kentucky Derby fifth-place finisher and Wood Memorial (G2) winner Mo Donegal, and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Nest — as well as Preakness Stakes third-place finisher Creative Minister and Peter Pan Stakes (G3) winner We the People are also expected to highlight the field of eight horses. The Belmont Stakes is referred to as the “Test of the Champion” for its 1.5-mile distance, the longest of the three Triple Crown races.
Three races in the “Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series – Win and You’re In,” including the Jaipur Stakes, the Hill ‘n’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap, and the Ogden Phipps, will be featured this Saturday on CNBC and Peacock.
Highlights of NBC Sports’ Belmont Stakes coverage include:
- Long-time NBC Sports horse racing host Tom Hammond narrates an essay about the storied history of the Belmont Stakes on NBC;
- Features on the connections of Rich Strike including trainer Eric Reed, jockey Sonny Leon and groom Jerry Dixon, Jr.;
- Meet the Belmont Stakes contenders.
In addition, musician DJ Pauly D will perform in the Belmont Park grandstand and give the ‘Riders Up’ command during the broadcast.
COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports’ coverage of the Belmont Stakes features host Mike Tirico; analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey, the Hall of Fame jockey and two-time Belmont Stakes winner; host Ahmed Fareed; handicapper Matt Bernier; reporters Britney Eurton and Kenny Rice; and race caller Larry Collmus.

The NBC Sports Audio Network will present live Belmont Stakes coverage, produced by SiriusXM, on Saturday, June 11 beginning at 10 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Audio (channel 85 on SiriusXM radios and the SXM App) with a special edition of SiriusXM’s Down The Stretch, hosted by acclaimed track announcer Dave Johnson and Bill Finley. NBC Sports Audio’s coverage of the Belmont Stakes from Belmont Park begins at 6 p.m. ET. NBC Sports’ Larry Collmus will handle the live Belmont Stakes race call. NBC Sports and SiriusXM also teamed to produce audio coverage of the first two legs of the Triple Crown — the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
