Granite Digital partners with WP Engine for enterprise WordPress


Website developer Granite Digital has announced an enhanced partnership with WP Engine that aims to extend the reach of the WordPress backend in the enterprise sector.

Hosting company WP Engine was founded in 2010 in Austin, Texas. It’s involved in managed WordPress hosting, enterprise WordPress, headless WordPress, Flywheel, Local and Genesis.

WordPress technology is used by an estimated 41% of the global internet and WP Engine hosts 1.5 million websites. WP Engine operates a global customer support centre in Limerick, employing 120 people.

Granite Digital said the deal with WP Engine will enable it to scale its business in the UK.

Robert Carpenter, Granite Digital director, commented: “WordPress is growing at an incredible pace and WP Engine is central to driving this growth.

“We’ve identified significant opportunities together in the enterprise sector and have no doubt we’ll achieve our growth targets in both markets.

“By combining our areas of expertise, we are enhancing our product and service capabilities to ensure customers can enjoy more seamless and secure digital experiences.”

The Granite Digital operating company booked a net profit of €490,000 in 2020 after accounting for €200,000 in depreciation and amortisation charges. Period-end trade debtors increased from €1.4m to €2.1m through 2020
